Defence Family Support
At Wagga Wagga Christian College, we are aware of the unique situations for Defence families moving to a new area. We seek to embrace all families joining our community, making the transition as smooth and supportive as possible.
For over 10 years the College staff has included a Defence School Mentor (DSM) who welcomes and supports Defence families, assisting children and parents as they settle into the community.
The DSM runs regular lunchtime activities for Defence children and their friends, teaching resilience and discussing issues regarding friendships, belonging and support.
Alongside this, the whole College community is offered many opportunities during the year to participate in events which celebrate and support our Nation’s Defence forces. This includes our special ANZAC and Remembrance Day services, Defence Force Day (run by local military personnel), and we proudly have close connections with both the RAAF Base Wagga and Kapooka Military Base.

As part of the Defence community, the Defence Mentor understands the importance of connection to ease transition and provide a secure environment where each member of the family can thrive.
