Our Primary School is a dynamic and caring environment where each child is known, valued, and respected as unique individuals.

We encourage our students to be compassionate, caring and thoughtful of others. We engage students in critical and
creative thinking, developing their problem-solving, competence and confidence, focusing on growth in learning.
We explore each child’s interests and inspire them to be the best they can be!

The College uses explicit teaching programs, focusing on developing foundational understanding, including phonics- based literacy and mastery-based numeracy approaches. The explicit teaching method is integrated within a Reggio Emilia inspired inquiry-learning approach, reflecting research evidence for what works best for children’s learning.

Children learn the language of learning and explore what productive learning feels, sounds and looks like. We discuss, ask questions, and learn how to learn. This extends knowledge, develops new skills and teaches persistence. This form
of learning empowers children to think for themselves and inspires natural curiosity.

Opportunities to Excel

Music
Music collaboratively and in community builds relational skills and supports and develops key parts of the brain that bring benefits to subjects such as maths and literature. Music encourages personal discipline, concentration and commitment qualities students take into the world beyond the classroom.

Agriculture is a focus at the College that continues to grow. Programs run from Kindergarten to Year 12.

Our younger students are engaged in managing garden beds and small animals, including poultry. Older and more experienced students begin working with cattle.

We value sport as an essential part of a child’s development.

The College offers both competitive sport programs (including inter-school and community competitions) and more social sport programs.

Exploring the interaction of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics learning areas engages students in rich experiences of real-world applications.

STEM is a cross-curricular focus of the College and a variety of Co-Curricular STEM programs are offered.

The leadership program at Wagga Wagga Christian College is aimed at creating a student community, which contributes to the College in practical ways, and provides for a broad range of students to be involved.

As students are identified as benefiting from extension programs, the College offers a range of options that aim to challenge and grow each child. A diverse range of extension and acceleration programs provide opportunities for students to excel in their passions and talents.

Primary Wellbeing & Support

Structures and programs ensure the individual needs of each child are recognised, which includes a Buddy Class program, Peer Support lessons, and counselling for students and families.

In the Buddy Class program, each student has a buddy in an older class who they play with, talk to, and learn from. It teaches older students to care for others, teach others, and serve others. For younger students, it allows them to feel safe and comfortable around the College.

The teachers are amazing and the facilities are beautiful, but the most important factor to me is that my daughter asks me every morning with a big smile if she can go to ‘my school’ today.
